Technicians

 

Rj (Large Animal)

Ronald “RJ” Palmer was born and raised in Hattiesburg, MS. He attended The University of Southern Mississippi where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences in 2019.

As a large animal technician, RJ’s responsibilities include maintaining a clean environment within the barn and assisting the large animal veterinarians with their procedures, the former in which he especially takes great pride.

He and his wife, Emily, live in Hattiesburg and are proud parents of three cats. 


Amber (Small Animal)

Amber Ivy, originally from Morton, MS, joined the Pine Belt family July of 2021. Amber knew her career path when she started work at a veterinary clinic in 2010 and eventually expanded her knowledge as she attended Mississippi State University. A graduate of 2018 from the Veterinary Medical Technology Program with a Bachelor’s degree in Science, she is now a Certified Veterinary Technologist. She is engaged to a large animal veterinarian at Pine Belt Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Stephen Campbell. Dr. Campbell and her reside in Sumrall, MS, and attend Temple Baptist Church. 


Heidi (Small Animal)

Heidi Miller was born and raised in Starkville, MS where she later attended Mississippi State University. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree Fall 2020 in Wildlife Biology, Ecology, and Management. Heidi moved to Hattiesburg shortly after graduation and joined the Pine Belt family December of 2020. She plans to go back to college to obtain a secondary degree in Veterinary Technology so she can soon become a Certified Veterinary Technician. She has two dogs (Fawn and Zeppelin), a cat (Sharkbait), a guinea pig (Peanut), and a turtle (Johnny Cash).


Laura (Small Animal)

Laura Lucas is our Lead Veterinary Technician from Seminary, MS. She was born in Flowood, MS, but primarily grew up in Madison, MS. Laura attended Hinds Community Colleges Veterinary Technician program directly after high school. Laura knew from a young age that she wanted to be in the veterinary field. She joined the Pine Belt Family May 2015 after moving from Brandon, MS. Laura has 4 dogs (Titan, Maizey Kate, Zouri, and Smiley), 3 cats (Meow, Wallace and Tiny), and 2 horses (Max and Booger). She is married to her high school sweetheart, Jake Lucas. In her spare time, Laura enjoys spending time on the river with friends and family, traveling (especially to Branson, MO), and spending time with her fur children.


Tonya (Small Animal)

Tonya Desjardins, was born in Wiesbaden, Germany but primarily grew up in Missouri. She joined the Pine Belt family in October 2018. Tonya grew up in a military family and joined the military herself after graduating high school. After serving 8 years in the Army, she decided to get out and change careers. She graduated from Colorado Academy of Veterinary Technology with an Associates degree in Applied Science in 2015. Tonya has been a Certified Veterinary Technician in Colorado, Texas, and now Mississippi. She has been married since 2016 and her husband is Active Duty Army. She also has a 17 year old daughter. Her animal family includes 4 dogs (Munkee, Freyja, Bruce Wayne, and Calypso) and a pot belly pig (Miss Piggy). Tonya enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, kayaking and hiking.


 

Receptionists

Sarah

Sarah B. Haralson is originally from Illinois and moved to Mississippi in 2005. She has been with PBVH since February of 2020. Her and her husband live in Hattiesburg and are proud parents of several fur babies. Sarah loves her job because she says she gets to spend everyday loving and falling in love with other people's babies as if they were her own.  


Sheila

Sheila Musick is originally from California and moved to Mississippi in 2018. She has an Associates degree in Digital Art which she obtained from Laurus College in California. Not only is she a receptionist, she also works as a seamstress on her days off. Sheila enjoys drawing and painting. In her spare time she does performance art for small groups including spin fire and fire dancing.


Kennel Technicians

Jessy

Jessy Daniels, originally from Southaven, MS moved to Hattiesburg, MS in 2015 along with her husband and son. She worked at Forrest General Hospital as a Emergency Technician and Patient Accountant Assistant for 4 years. Knowing her calling was in animal medical care, Jessy began work at Pine Belt Veterinary Hospital August of 2020. She is the proud mom of not only her son, but a dog named Cayde and 2 cats named Cup and Shaker.


Nick

Nick Walley, our current Kennel Manager, is from Laurel, MS and has been working at Pine Belt Veterinary Hospital and Kennel since December 2014. He is a cat dad to a tabby cat named Shep, and a calico cat name Bea. In his spare time, Nick enjoys going on weekend hikes. 


Rachel

Rachel Simmons is originally from Jackson, MS and currently resides in Sumrall, MS along with her 5 year old son Augustus, her four dogs (Pearl, Bama, Malibu, and Dixie), seven horses, and one potbelly pig named Stinky Pete. She attended Pear River Community College where she obtained her Associates degree. She has always had a passion for animals since she was a small child when she received her first dog for her fifth birthday; a Mini Schnauzer named Heidi. She also volunteered at Columbia Animal Clinic while staying with her grandparents during summer break in high school. Before she had her son in 2016 she worked at All Animal Clinic and then later on worked at Purvis Animal Clinic. In January of 2019 she joined the Pine Belt Veterinary Hospital team as a Receptionist and then moved to be a Veterinary Assistant. She is currently in training to be the new Kennel Manager. She enjoys spending time with her family and working outdoors, but her most favorite hobby is riding her horses with her best friend.


Tiffany

Tiffany Dyal is originally from Mobile, Alabama and was raised in Hattiesburg, MS. She has been working at Pine Belt Veterinary Hospital and Kennel since May 2018. As she works part time, she is currently in school at The University of Southern Mississippi working on her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiotherapy/ Kinesiology. She has already obtained an Associates Degree in Arts. Tiffany has 3 cats (Buddy, Meow and Sushi) and 2 dogs (Nano and Sprocket).
